[Gen 2:18 – 25]
.
God himself instituted marriage
.
1. He designed it [Gen 1: 27; 2: 18; Math 19: 4,5]
.
2. God was the first father to give away a bride [Gen 2: 22]
.
3. God is the first shepherd/Pastor that joined man to woman as husband and wife. He hasn’t stopped the business of uniting till date [Mark 10: 6 – 9]

.
Talking about the purpose of marriage, marriage should:
.
HONOUR GOD
.
Marriage is not only from God and through Him, it is also for Him. Marriage mirrors God's covenant relationship with His people; it displays God’s glory in a way that no other event or institution does. “Marriage is meant by God to put that Gospel reality on display in the world.” - John Piper. Marriage is not mainly about being or staying in love. It’s about portraying something true about Jesus Christ and the way He relates to His people [Eph 5: 31,32]
.
"If happiness is our primary goal, we'll get a divorce as soon as happiness seems to wane. If receiving love is our primary goal, we'll dump our spouse as soon as they seem to be less attentive. But if we marry for the glory of God, to model His love and commitment to our children, and to reveal His witness to the world, divorce makes no sense." – Thomas
.
With a Christ-centered relationship and unwavering commitment to making it work, your marriage can flourish just as God designed. Focus on your spouse's strengths rather than weaknesses, encourage rather than criticize, pray for your spouse instead of gossiping about them, learn and live what Christ teaches about relating to and loving others. God created marriage as a loyal partnership between one man and one woman. This loyal partnership is better built on commitment rather than just feelings of emotions.
